Advocates of YUST won the license for ROSBALT information agency back

The Administrative Cases Board of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation by its Determination dated March 19 of 2014 repealed the Ruling passed by the Moscow City Court on termination of the activity of RosBalt information agency and decided to dismiss the request by Roskomnadzor to terminate the activity of said mass medium. Tatiana Starikova, Partner of the Law Firm "YUST", and Igor Pastukhov, Adviser to the Firm, were the advocates of RosBalt information agency.
Roskomnadzor was unable to provide any proof to support its claims. Moreover, the representative of Roskomnadzor in the course of the court session was unable to explain what legal provisions they used in their activities of control over how the mass media comply with the Mass Media Law.
Neither was Roskomnadzor able to explain to the court the choice of precisely RosBalt, which had only received two warnings, for resorting to courts, while there were many other mass media, which it had issued several warnings each. As we understand, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation agreed with the arguments of the advocates of RosBalt – Tatitana Starikova and Igor Pastukhov, that Roskomnadzor employees had breached the legislation requirements in so many ways that the documents they had issued cannot be a base for applications of sanctions towards RosBalt, and much less – for the decision to terminate its activities.
