An advocate is elected Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences

A general meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences was held in Moscow on December 22. Elections of new full members and corresponding members were held in the course of the meeting.

According to the Charter of the Academy, the elections are carried out in one round by secret vote. The Members of the Academy are elected for life.

The count of the votes resulted in that, for the first time in history of the Russian advocacy, an advocate - Andrey Lisitsyn-Sveltanov, Professor, Doctor at Law, Senior Partner at the Firm – became Academician (Full Member of the Academy). He has occupied the position of Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy since 2004.

According to the Charter of the Academy, only scholars who have enriched the science with works of paramount scientific significance are eligible to be elected full members of the academy.

The monograph “The role of law in the modernization of the economy of Russia” by Professor, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Lisitsyn-Svetlanov, published this autumn under the auspices of the Institute of State and Law of the Academy, was another of his newest outstanding works.
