Be careful as the FAS is on alert

Dmitry Seregin, Adviser of the Law Firm "YUST", commented for the Rossiyskaya Gazeta on the news that the Federal Antimonopoly Service initiated the first case for a too loud TV commercial.
The TV-3 television channel is about to create a case precedent. According to the Service, the commercials that interrupted “The Fortune-Teller” series on that channel on August 4 were too noisy. The new method approved by the order of the Federal Antimonopoly Service will help to prove that the sound’s volume was extremely high.
The law that limits the loudness of the commercials entered into force in spring. Now the advertising must be given at the same volume as the normal transmissions. The TV channels actually used to increase the volume to attract the audience’s attention to commercials. The moderation rule also applies to the TV program announcements and radio advertising.
Dmitry Seregin reminded that breaches of the advertising laws are punishable with administrative fines from four to twenty thousand roubles for officials. Legal entities may be fined for an amount between one hundred and five hundred thousand roubles.
