Ceremony of Fedor Plevako Advocacy Awards - 2012

The Ceremony of Fedor Plevako Advocacy Awards was traditionally held at the Central House of Scientists. Henry Reznik, President of the Moscow Chamber of Advocates, told to those present of the most interesting cases of Fedor Plevako. After that, Yury Pilipenko, Managing Partner of the Law Firm "YUST", First Vice-President of the Federal Chamber of Advocates, spoke. He brought the current state of the advocacy to the attention of those present. In his speech, Y.Pilipenko suggested endowing the President of the FCA with the right to initiate disciplinary proceedings in relation to advocates in order to protect the corporation’s business reputation. He also expressed the opinion that it would be well to expand the list of sanctions against advocates for certain actions, for example, by inclusion of compulsory suspension of the advocate’s status for an indefinite period.

The award “For outstanding contribution to the development of furthering the unity of the Russian advocacy” (a bronze bust of F.Plevako) was given to:

  • Andrey Tarasov, an advocate from Moscow;
  • Nikolay Kondaurov, member of the Chamber of Advocates of the Saratov Region.

Silver medals were awarded:

  • To Valentin Baklanov (Moscow) and Vasily Tarasenko (Samara Region) – in the nomination “For success achieved in the protection of rights and legal interests of citizens and legal entities, development of legal science, preparation of qualified law personnel, for hard work of strengthening the unity of the advocacy”;
  • To Yury Rubin, Roman Gonopolsky and Elena Lukianova, Msocw advocates - in the nomination “For success achieved in the protection of rights and legal interests of citizens and legal entities, development of legal science, preparation of qualified law personnel, for hard work of strengthening the unity of the advocacy”.

Gold medals were awarded:

  • To Alexander Asnis (Moscow) – in the nomination “For high professional skill, successful protection of constitutional rights, liberties and legal interests of citizens and organizations and for many years of honest labour”;
  • Mark Kogan – in the nomination “For significant contribution to the development of the Russian advocacy and strengthening of its unity, preparation of qualified law personnel”;
  • Olga Glazkova (Moscow) - in the nomination “For high professional skill, successful protection of constitutional rights, liberties and legal interests of citizens and organizations and for many years of honest labour”;
  • Mikhail Krestinsky (Moscow) - in the nomination “For significant contribution to the development of the Russian advocacy and strengthening of its unity, preparation of qualified law personnel”;
  • Boris Goremykin (Moscow), Leonid Zilberov (Novosibirsk Region), Svetlana Kazachenok (Volgograd Region) and Marina Kopyrina (Kirov Region) - in the nomination “For high professional skill, successful protection of constitutional rights, liberties and legal interests of citizens and organizations and for many years of honest labour”;
  • Svetlana Volodina, Director of the Institute of Advocacy of Oleg Kutafin Moscow State Academy of Law; Alexander Sevastianov, President of the Chamber of Advocates of Tver Region; Mikhail Shaposhnikov, President of the Chamber of Advocates of Kemerovo District - in the nomination “For significant contribution to the development of the Russian advocacy and strengthening of its unity, preparation of qualified law personnel”.
