EU – Russia: on the way to equal and mutually beneficial acknowledgement of court rulings

The international conference “EU – Russia: on the way to equal and mutually beneficial acknowledgement of court rulings”, organized by Societé Juridique Franco-Russe, was held on February 17, 2012 in the Great Chamber of the Court of Cassation of France.

Four “round tables” were held in the framework of the Conference. The following themes were discussed:

  • Exequatur of the rulings of Russian courts in France and Europe;
  • Acknowledgement of European court rulings in the Russian Federation;
  • Practical examples of legal collisions arising in connection with refusals to execute foreign courts’ rulings in Russia;
  • Execution of international agreements in the sphere of mutual acknowledgement of court rulings between the EU, its Member States and Russia.

A.A.Ivanov, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Arbitration of Russia, V.Lamanda, First Chairman of the Court of Cassation of France, V.F.Yakovlev, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs of Russia, of France and of the EU, professors and advocates from Russia, France, the Great Britain and Germany, took part in the conference.

The round table “Acknowledgement of European court rulings in the Russian Federation” was moderated by Academician A.G.Lisitsyn-Svetlanov, Senior Partner at the Firm.
