Experts are interested in Crimea
The Government of Crimea received the right of compulsory buy-out of “strategic objects”. There is an opinion that the new law will permit to deal with the complicated regulation of property rights to the lands and ventures of the peninsula, and also stimulate the infrastructural development.
Alexander Bolomatov, Partner of the Law Firm "YUST", commenting on the new law for Expert Online, points out that the situation with the land and venture property in Crimea had been insolvable even before the integration of the republic into Russia.
He explained: “The moratorium on the sale of land plots has been in place there for years. And resolving of the situation by deprivatization is a good idea. This may certainly cause dissatisfaction of the proprietors, who are mainly well-off people from Russia and Ukraine. Especially if the Crimeans, who used to sell land shares of collective and state farms to them, attempt to somehow profit from the buy-out provisions. But I think the authorities will be able to cut this Gordian knot – the approaches have been tested in Moscow and Sochi. And I would recommend that the legal owners of the Crimean land keep a close eye on the situation in this sphere for six months or a year”.
