Experts: possible nomination of Sviridenko is a loss of Ivanov’s influence

The possible approval of Oleg Sviridenko, the Head of the Federal Court of Arbitration of the Central District (the FCACD), as a Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Head of the Board on economic disputes is “welcome news” and “well within the concept of forming of the new Supreme Court of Russia”.
Advocate Alexander Bolomatov, Partner of the Law Firm "YUST", told RAPSI: “The recommendation of Sviridenko himself for the position if fully consistent with the general concept of forming of the Board on economic disputes: on one hand, Oleg Mikhailovich is a seasoned judge, with a large experience of heading Russia’s largest courts; on the other hand – he is not related to the judges and administrative workers of the Higher Court of Arbitration of Russia”.
In his opinion, assuming that “the objective was to find a Head of the Board from outside the HCA of Russia, Oleg Mikhailovich appears to be a natural candidate”.
A.Bolomatov added: “I think that this news appears encouraging to many lawyers, because it means an indirect confirmation of the promises to keep the arbitration system per se, continuation of development of the information openness of the courts of arbitration and the general continuity of the arbitration system”.
