Football disputes settlement: practice of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber and the Sports Court of Arbitration in the city of Lausanne
“Statut”, a Russian legal literature publisher, with the assistance from the Law Firm "YUST" and “Chempionat.com”, issued two books of the “Sports law” series.
One of those books – “Football disputes settlement” – is dedicated to the analysis and systematization of the practice of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber (FIFA DRC) and the Sports Court of Arbitration in the city of Lausanne (CAS) on the most important issues of the day-to-day practice of clubs and players.
For the first time in Russia, besides considering the procedural norms of FIFA DRC and CAS, the authors - Mikhail Prokopets, head of the sports law group of the Firm, Denis Rogachev, legal adviser of the Russian Football Union, Frans de Veger, legal adviser of the Dutch Football Federation – attempted to classify the practice according to twelve most common problems arising in football:
- Unilateral employment contract termination;
- Unilateral contract prolongation option;
- Solidarity mechanism;
- Training compensation;
- Compensation for groundless contract termination;
- Imposition of sports sanctions etc.
The authors have examined and evaluated the most celebrated football cases, such as the cases Webster, Matusalem, de Sanctis etc.
The book will be interesting for sports lawyers, players and their agents as well as for non-specialists in the area.
The latest editions of Regulations of FIFA and the RFU are included as schedules, as well as – for the first time in Russia – the complete ruling of CAS on the Matusalem case in Russian.
Official release of the “Sports law” project is available here.
