German-Russian Forum – 2013. New impulses for the Altay region

02.07.2013

German-Russia Forum - 2013

Traditional seminars for young leaders were held within the framework of the German-Russian Forum from June 23 till June 29. The Altay Territory was the receiving party this year. Its Governor Alexander Karpin spoke in his welcoming speech about the peculiarities of the regional infrastructure and the programs of territorial development.

The program of the event included a visit to the Altay State University, a presentation of the touristic potential of the Territory and a visit to Belokurikha spa city and Turquoise Katun special economic zone of touristic and recreational type.

The communication was businesslike and informal. The young specialists discussed topical issues of economic and legal future of the relations between Russia and Germany, including the development of ecotourism. According to some data, 2/3 of German investments in 2013 were made to expand production. Economic potential, infrastructure, communications and the level of specialists were the key factors of choice of its location in Russia. German investors usually call the Republic of Tatarstan, Sverdlovsk and Novosibirsk Regions as the most attractive regions. In this connection, the events of the German-Russian Forum resulted in that foreign guests evaluated Altay as a region with potential, especially in the sphere of tourism and agriculture. Ventures with German capital are currently active in its territory, and with success: Metro trade center, AltayEuroMotors company – an official dealer of Volkwagen, Audi-Center, Dixi Company - an official dealer of BMW.

Erika Kindsvater, Advocate of the Law Firm "YUST", pointed out that the flow of foreign capital to the region requires additional legal formalization of relations between the interested participants of economic activity. The improvement of the infrastructure, on which the development of the region depends, must be accompanied by the preservation of unique objects of nature. She says that this, in turn, needs a specially detailed fixation of mutual rights and obligations from the part of the business as well as from the authorities. The participants of the event noted the high level of organization and thanked the receiving party for the possibility to discuss professional cooperation from different sides, including taking into account the perspectives, which are available in the region.

The official release is available at the website of the Administration of Altay Territory.

For information: Starting in 1994, the German-Russian Forum holds, in Russia and in Germany alternately, seminars for young leaders. The goal of the events is to develop and strengthen the German-Russian relations, including among the youth of both countries. The members of the Forum elect the participants, who are required to speak both Russian and German, to work in the sphere of economy, law, journalism and science, and be under 36 years of age. Seminars are each aimed at deep studies of a single thematic aspect of the German-Russian relations, which allows the young leaders to engage in a dialogue. When the seminar is over, the dialogue continues in the ever-expanding network of professional contacts.
