Going to America is unsafe

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia published at its official website a new warning for the Russian citizens, who go abroad. The external policy institution recommends not going to the USA and several dozens of other countries due to the unreliable nature of the “justice American way”. The tour operators believe that Russian travelers will ignore this advice.

Advocate Alexander Petrov of the Law Firm "YUST" also believes that the only Russians that should beware are those who are engaged in any activity, which the USA authorities may regard as illegal. However, “according to the recommendations, it may be anyone”. A.Petrov agrees: “Perhaps, they will not simply grab people and throw them in jail in the USA. It may be concluded from the text of the recommendation that the MFA admits the possibility of non-impartial evaluation of certain conflict situations, violations of rights of Russian citizens at odds with law enforcement bodies, including the non-provision of access to the Russian consul”.
