Prosecutors will become involved in bankruptcies of state companies

Rodion Smirnov, Advocate of the Law Firm "YUST", commented for the Izvestia newspaper the Government’s suggestion to endow the prosecutors with the right to take part in the judicial proceedings of the bankruptcy cases of all companies under state control as well of such private companies as have been recognized as strategic by the authorities: "Bankruptcy is one of the spheres, where offences are frequent, thus the involvement of a prosecutor in this case does not appear unnecessary. Watching out for any indications of deliberate or fraudulent bankruptcy of the organization will be another task for the prosecutor in a bankruptcy case. This novelty fits with the policy of strengthening the State control over what the managers of the state-owned ventures do at their positions".
