Sberbank filed for bankruptcy of the owner of SU-155
16.11.2015
Mikhail Balakin has found himself among the large debtors this year: he personally is obliged, upon several court judgments, to pay a total of 4 billion roubles to three banks – Sberbank, Rosselkhozbank and Rosbank. According to the case materials, all these debts arose because M.Balakin had acted as a surety on the loans of his own companies.
M.Blalkin’s debt to Sberbank amounts to 434 million roubles, because he, together with another structure of the SU-155 Group, Rosstoy NN LLC, was in 2011 a surety for the loan taken by DSK-NN CJSC, which constructed residential houses in Nizhny Novgorod and took out the loan in 2007.
Rodion Smirnov, Advocate of the Bankruptcy Group of the Law Firm “YUST”, told the Vedomosti newspaper how M.Balakin’s case is special: "the individual is the owner of the business, who owns shares in varions companies [of the group]. And the bank this way is probably establishing for itself an opportunity to contest certain transactions in the future ".
