The special procedure of initiation of criminal cases refused to business

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in early August charged the Apparatus of the Government with studying the matter of a reform of the criminal and criminal procedural legislation in order to protect the interests of the businessmen. The Ministry of Justice was to collect the suggestions from business, the MIA, the Investigation Committee and the Supreme Court and to submit them to the Government. According to the draft of the report, the members of the discussion dropped three of the nine suggestions made by business, and decided to further work on five of them.

Alexander Bolomatov, Partner of the Law Firm "YUST", commented for the RBC newspaper on the information that the Ministry of Justice has not yet supported all suggestions of the business community concerning the alleviation of the penal legislation in the economy sphere: "This is hardly the end of liberalization of the penal law in Russia. Law is dynamic, and we may well expect new initiatives of simplification and lifting of penal risks from business soon”.
