The State Duma did not defame the honor and dignity of Josef Stalin’s grandson – the court ruling has entered into force

02.05.2012

On February 14, 2012, Tverskoy District Court of the city of Moscow dismissed the claim of protection of honor and dignity moved by E.Y.Dzhugashvili (Josef Stalin’s grandson) against the State Duma. Alexander Petrov, Advocate at the Law Firm "YUST", represented the Respondent’s interests in court.

E.Y.Dzhugashvili demanded that the text of the Resolution No. 4504-5ГД, dated 26.11.2010, by the State Duma of the Russian Federation, dedicated to the so-called “Katyn crime” be ruled false and defaming the honor and dignity of his grandfather – Josef Stalin.

The Respondent expressed his disagreement, since the published materials of the secret files testified that the Katyn crime had been committed upon instructions by Josef Stalin and other high-ranking Soviet officials.

The court considered the claim in essence and ruled E.Y.Dzhugashvili’s demands unfounded.

The Ruling entered into force on March 27, 2012.

More details of Advocate A.Petrov’s dealing of the case are available in the next issues of the New Advocate’s Newspaper.
