The strategic object is ours

The strategic object is ours

The Government of Crimea was granted the right of compulsory buy-out of “strategic objects”. The document is worded in such a way that it may affect not only land or realty. Pursuant to the law “On peculiarities of buy-out of strategic objects in the Republic of Crimea”, the objects, “where the circumstances of threat to life, to people’s health, to the economic security of the State, to normal functioning of vital objects, of technological and environmental catastrophe” arise, may be compulsorily bought from their owners.

Alexander Bolomatov, Partner of the Law Firm "YUST": “The authorities usually resort to the proceedings under the Civil Code, and adopt federal laws exactly for the accelerated purchases, while local authorities adopted the law in this case”. The law on admittance of Crimea to the Russian Federation gave them such right for the duration of the transitory period. Its Article 23 enables the local authorities to follow their own laws for the duration of the transitory period until 2015 towards those companies, which have not yet completed their re-registration under the Russian jurisdiction. The vagueness of the wordings permits the Crimean authorities to interpret the provisions of the new law as the right to purchase into the region’s property of land as well as companies. There is an alarming feeling that a collective farm or a vineyard may be ruled strategic objects”.
