The Supreme Court explained the procedure of application of the laundering article: hiding property from confiscation will be equaled to drug dealing

Evgeny Zhilin, Managing Partner of the Law Firm "YUST", told the Vedomosti newspaper that the trend to expand the number of basic crimes is seen in the decision of the Supreme Court: “This is hardly necessary: the person does not acquire property but hides it. Non-performance of a court judgment may be a separate corpus delicti, is punishment for hiding also needed?” According to the advocate, this may lead to double punishment for the same crime.
The Supreme Court suggests deeming the property hidden from confiscation against the tax arrears a subject of legalization of income received from crime – equally with the profits from selling weapons or drugs.
