The Federal Chamber of Advocates is forming a group of experts for rendering assistance in the sphere of safeguarding rights and legal interests of the victims of international trafficking of children.

It includes specialists in family and international law, in particular – in the application of procedures stipulated by the Convention on civil law aspects of international trafficking of children. An expert of the FCA of Russia comments on the problem as requested by the NAN.
In the situation, when state borders are freely crossed, and the country of residence freely chosen, marriages between Russian and foreign citizens have been increasing. According to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, 60 to 70 thousand of such marriages are registered each year in Russia only.
However, any marriage, even a trans-border one, may fall apart. The most important issue, which arises when a marriage is dissolved, is where and with whom will the child reside? If the child’s parents are citizens of different states, one of the spouses sometimes resolves the situation by taking the child to their respective country and keeping the child there without the consent from the other spouse. The children are the main victims of the conflict between parents, who have the right to see both their parents.
