On 3 February 2007, the Law firm “YUST” conducted a seminar on the issues of business and inheritance, business and family relations.

Matters addressed at the seminar included, inter alia, the most common problems encountered by individual persons (including minors) both in the Russian Federation and abroad, following the acquisition of participation interests in commercial organizations by way of inheritance and through division of marital property that included jointly owned assets, as well as problems regarding the management of such assets.

In the course of discussions, the participants of the seminar noted a number of significant omissions in the legislation governing these issues, and also the importance of observing the principle of balanced protection of the interests of business and private individuals in the process of legal regulation of relations arising with the onset of certain acts of civil status. The participants expressed particular interest in contemporary Russian and foreign advocates’ practice in the matters under discussion, and also the ethical problems encountered in their solution.
