The Supreme Court and the Legal Community are working on the President's request

As became known to "Nezavisimaya Gazeta", in pursuance of the President's instruction, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, along with the Legal community, are preparing amendments to the Criminal Code and the Criminal Procedure Codes. They should increase the level of security and competitiveness of the parties to the criminal process. The Russian Federal Chamber of Lawyers, for example, has already developed proposals to prevent cases of pressure on business by law enforcement agencies.

"If we really want to give a serious impetus to the economy, we must also change the mind of the law enforcer," Evgeniy Rozenblat, attorney of the “YUST” law firm, told to “Nezavisimaya Gazeta”. "In particular, it is necessary to depart from the principle that business activity itself contains deviant signs. There should be strict informal judicial and prosecutorial supervision over the selection of preventive measures in the form of detention and house arrest. In addition it is necessary to strengthen the responsibility for unreasonable prosecution of businessmen".
