The authorities did not support the idea of providing housing to rehabilitated victims of reprisals out of turn

Russian government prepared a negative review (available to the editorial staff) for the draft amendments to the Law on the Rehabilitation of Victims of Political Repression, which proposes to establish the right of rehabilitated persons who lost their living quarters in connection with repression to get priority housing (bill No. 302984-7).

Partner of the "YUST" Law Firm Alexander Bolomatov supported the position of the Government of the Russian Federation, noting the "Novaya Advokatskaya Gazeta" that the bill can be called unprocessed. "The government draws attention to the discrepancy between the bill and the codified norms of the Housing Code and the absence of an indication of the source of financing for the project. The question of providing living quarters under social employment contracts should be worked out in details, otherwise we will get another declared norm that won’t be carried out. The adoption of the bill in this form cannot be called justified, and the position of the Government is formally correct”. The expert also added that, in his opinion, the proposed norm is not significant, since there are no objective studies and factual data on its relevance.
