WADA recommended that federations not hold championships in Russia

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) urged the federation not to hold competitions in Russia. Such appeals are extremely recommendatory, since the agency has no right to specify federations where to hold sporting events. The Head of the group of labor and sports law of the "YUST" Law Firm Alexander Ksenofontov told this in an interview to the TV channel "Zvezda".

"The fact is that it does not oblige the international federations and organizers of events to award events only to those countries that have ratified the UNESCO anti-doping convention and in which the National Olympic Committee, the National Paralympic Committee and the National Anti-Doping Organization comply with the World Code. so - "do everything possible to ensure that these activities are carried out only in such countries", that is, it is rather such an advisory norm, not a strict obligation. The organizers of events make their own decisions about where to hold sports competitions, and WADA can not tell them where to do it,"Alexander Ksenofontov explained.
