Partner of the Law Firm "YUST" Patrick Pohlit took part in the 4th Conference for financial directors held by the Russo-German Chamber of Foreign Trade

The 4th Conference for financial directors, which was organized by the Committee on taxes, financial reporting and controlling of the Russo-German Chamber of Foreign Trade, was held at the Ararat Hyatt Hotel on June 17. Approximately 100 persons took part in the Conference, mainly specialists in economy. The speakers suggested for discussion topical subjects from the sphere of tax and trade law, which are of special significance for the Russo-German commercial turnover. Alongside with discussing the legislative trends, the determination of the directions of development in the European countries, which are not the locations of incorporation of companies (in the sense of their effect on Russian taxpayers), was the key moment of the Conference. Patrick Pohlit delivered a report on the subject “Relations on rendering services within a group of companies – new legal trends”, and also offered to the listeners a survey of the changes to the legislation and topical tendencies of judicial and administrative practice on the cases involving trans-national transactions with related/affiliated entities.
Within the framework of the Conference for financial directors, the Union of German Economy in Russia (UGE) – a kind of a predecessor of the Russo-German Chamber of Foreign Trade in Moscow – headed by Mme. Dr. Andrea von Knop and Mr. Michael Harms celebrated its 20th anniversary. Approximately 200 guests attended the celebration, among those – highly positioned representatives of Russian and German economy and politics. The celebration speech, presentations and short films reflected the somewhat complicated period, when the Union was starting its work in Russia, which subsequently served as a positive example for the establishing of the Russo-German Chamber of Foreign Trade in 2007 under the auspices of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Chancellor of the FRG Angela Merkel. In this connection, the welcoming address of the President of Russia was read aloud to the guests. Thanks to such an informal and easy atmosphere, the event gave hopes of further improvement of political and economic relations. This is expressed in the words of a Russian member of the Conference: “The relations between Russia and Germany have a history of a thousand years, over the course of which we had to settle some very difficult conflicts. We are hopeful that both parties remember this, and will promptly begin direct and impartial negotiations”.
