CAS sends signal to IOC: experts comment on the decision of the court in Lausanne
On Thursday, CAS fully satisfied 28 and partially satisfied 11 of 39 complaints of Russian athletes who were life-term removed because of suspicions of their use of doping, the court said in a press release. The court considered each of the cases individually and fully satisfied the complaints of 28 athletes, recognizing the evidence collected in their respect is insufficient. At the same time, the CAS agreed with accusations against 11 athletes, but decided to cancel the lifetime disqualification and limit itself to a ban on participation in the upcoming games in Korea.
Partner of the "YUST" law firm Maxim Rovinsky commented the decision of the sports arbitration court (CAS) in Lausanne to the information agency of the RAPSI on appeals of Russian athletes: "The court considers individually each case and evidence separately for each case, therefore we see that the principle of collective responsibility in court Lausanne has not found support, it is very important. This shows that all athletes who have been sanctioned must try to apply to courts of sports jurisdiction. This is an example for Russian rest athletes, the filing of appeals is not hopeless. "
