Football Law in Madrid

The V International Congress “Football Law” was successfully held in Madrid. One of the most influential events for sports lawyers was held under the auspices of the Football Federation of Spain this year. Approximately 300 leading sports law experts took part in it: CAS arbitrators, officials of FIFA, football federations and clubs, representatives of largest law companies. Mikhail Prokopets, Head of the Sports Law Group of the Law Firm "YUST", represented the Firm at the event. Representatives of Russia and Eastern European countries were also present: the counsels from FC Lokomotiv (Moscow), FC Zenit (Saint Peresburg), FC Shakhtar (Donetsk), FC Dinamo (Kiev), the Russian Football Union, the Byelorussian Football Federation, Russia-2018 Organizing Committee et al.

Within the framework of the event, reports were presented to the experts’ community on the recent FIFA program on club protection, novelties of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations, CAS practice regarding the calculation of the solidary mechanism, on problems involved in the execution of FUFA and CAS decisions towards the clubs undergoing bankruptcy procedures etc.
