Mikhail Prokopets, a Senior Lawyer at the Law Firm “YUST” has participated in the meeting of the Sports Law Commission of the Association of Lawyers of Russia

Diverse issues were raised at the meeting, but the participants mainly focused upon the discussions on children’s and youth sports.

In this connection, the main item of the agenda was how to enhance efficiency of organization for the children’s and youth sports, sports training as a very important part of the national policy in the field of physical training and sports. A draft federal law On Sports Training was actively discussed.

Along with members of the lawyers’ association, the following executives participated in the discussion of the draft federal law On Sports Training: Vyacheslav Fetisov, two-times Olympic Champion, Chairman of the Commission of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for physical training, sports and the development of Olympic movement; Anton Sikharulidze, Chairman of the State Duma committee for physical training and sports; Irina Viner, President of the All-Russian Federation for rhythmic sportive gymnastics; V. V. Blazheev, rector of MSLA; Denis Rogachev, legal counsel to the Minister for Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy of the Russian Federation, etc.

On the discussion results, the participants in the sports law commission made concept decisions on the sports sector development.

In particular, they approved a concept for the law On Sports Training, amendments to legislative acts and by-laws related to physical training and sports, intended for more active development of children’s and youth sports schools of Olympic reserve and other sports training institutions, improvement of sports financing system and verification of cash disbursements, generation of sports infrastructure, including new Olympic sports disciplines such as snow board, short track, freestyle.
