The today’s management is afraid to so much as think about creation of a fund for bribes

The HP company confessed that it had paid over $2 million 11 years ago in order to get the contract of supply of equipment to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia. International corporations have been giving bribes less and less frequently, but experts are convinced that the problem of “kickbacks” in the Russian market will not be solved soon.

Advocate Alexander Petrov of the Law Firm "YUST" says that corrupted officials may be punished with large fines and over 10 years of prison.

A.Petrov believes: “If a case is initiated, whether the persons are brought to liability or not will depend on if enough proof is collected in Russia. This is because a confession to a crime, which is done abroad, has no procedural force in our country. Everything must be investigated and proven in the territory of the Russian Federation in compliance with the Russian law. Those who accepted bribes, in all probability, face criminal liability in accordance with the size of the bribes – and I believe that especially large damages may be present in this case. The guilty ones may incur up to 15 years of prison and fines”.
