Youtube may be barred to Russians upon a decision of Roskomnadzor

Dmitry Seregin, Adviser of the Law Firm "YUST", commented on the air of the Kommersant FM radio station on the placement of The Coach and Chernobyl TV series on a video hosting without the rightholders’ consent.
Dmitry Seregin believes that, in order to make the struggle against piracy efficient, the large video hostings need to establish direct contacts with the rightholders and resolve all matters extrajudicially: "Youtube itself cannot and must not, for objective reasons, inspect each video. The rightholders themselves should be active and discover the instances of breaches of their rights. Still, Youtube must also cooperate with the rightholders, when the claim is legitimate, and eliminate the respective materials from its service. The legislation allows blocking access to resources via a court judgment; however, from the point of view of efficiency of court proceedings for the strucggle against video piracy, this procedure requires more time and effort then a direct cooperation of the rightholder with large actors”.
