TOP-5 of notable litigations of 2014

The cases of Sistema, YUKOS, Apple, RZhD and two more economic disputes appearing on the rating are important not only for certain trials but also for the forming of a new practice, which presumably will not keep us waiting for too long. Here is a reminder for those, who have missed everything.

The AFC Sistema case

The dispute upon a claim moved by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia against AFC Sistema and Sistema-Invest CJSC to reclaim the shares of Bashneft Joint-Stock Oil Company OJSC from said companies to the benefit of the Russian Federation (case No. A40-155494/14) was perhaps the most notable of the last year.

The essence of the Prosecutor’s Office claims amounted to the following: as a result of adoption of a number of normative legal acts by the authorities of the Republic of Bashkortostan, and of execution of several void deals by a group of companies, the Russian Federation lost the shares of one of the largest ventures of the fuel and energy industry.
